"Like the Pine Trees Lining the Winding Road..."

The Crow Baby has a name, the Crow Baby has a name. (My deepest apologies to Jim Croce but I couldn’t help myself). I hadn't wanted to give the bird a name since that seemed too much like admiting it was a pet.

If you haven’t read Animal Husbandry isn't as Sexy as it Sounds or Bathing the Crow, I’ll let you know we are the proud foster parents of a crow. I hadn’t planned on it being a pet, but like most things in life, that was not in my control. After several weeks of just calling it Crow Baby, we have decided on "Gaston" because he is rude and demanding.

When Gaston is not screaming (in a snooty French accent) for more food, he spends teh remainder of his time engaged in significant personal development activities such as:

Singing,

Film Study, and

Rodeo.

April 3 Update: Just got an update from home. Gaston has developed a fascination with the badminton shuttlecock and is walking around the yard with it clamped tightly in it's beak. He's a birdie with a birdie (you can't make this stuff up!).

Firstly, thanks for stopping by the blog.

Gaston is a brilliant name for a squawking bird, and even though I'm half French, I take no offense at all.

I haven't read those posts yet, but now that I've read this one, I gotta go check 'em out.

Thanks for the comments Sully and Mama. I urge everyone to read your blogs: laughing and thinking at the same time.

Last night I was teching Gaston how to eat worms. Exciting photos to come!

Sounds like you've got quite the pet. I'll have to browse a few entries back and see if I can't find the backstory, because I'm sure it's interesting.

Who knew crows could be so festive?

Trooper Thorn said...

Gaston is festive, but in a really bad tempered sort of way. He's like the old man who can't stand the noise of Cinco de Mayo, but loves to bust the piƱata.

That is so cool - I'm coming back for updates! Updates and worm pictures. I'm not a huge fan of pet birds but I've aleways wanted a crow; it's like they have the balls to say what I don't sometimes. At least not loud enough for anyone to hear.

I am not a fan of birds...we named our cockateil KUJO for a reason....mean thing, LOL

Should I send Kujo to you, so Gaston & him can live together? LOL

Just a thought;)

While Gaston may be a gluttonous slob, he is very gentle.

Perhaps he and KJUO could have a sitcom on the WB. They are roommates with nothing in common, but they run a modeling agency together. Oh, and they solve crimes too.

And David Allen Grier makes frequent guest appearances.

OH LOL KUJO couldn't solve a single crime, that damn bird is too busy hissing at Gaston, trust me...he's a hisser;)~

Interesting pet. You're the first person I know ( I don't really know you) to have a crows as a pet.

New pictures and a video posted of the daily hygiene rituals.

Gaston is keeping himself (or herself) in top form in case Hollywood comes calling.
